OUR ESTABLISHMENT

Professional dog training

At K9 Coach Academy we understand that not all pets are born equal. They each have their own unique traits and mannerisms, and therefore strive with their own unique and specialized training. That’s where we come in! Whether it’s for basic manners or more complex behavioral issues, our trainers are focused on not only training your pet, but teaching you how to effectively communicate with them. Our methods of training are full of fun techniques that will give you and your companion a happier life together!

OWNER/HEAD TRAINER

Dogs don’t lie. They are very honest, yet so forgiving, intelligent beyond belief, yet so humble. Dogs were destined to be the center of my life before I was born. I grew up with dogs, have never lived without dogs, and doubt I ever will. My love for dogs was always there, but my passion for them started in my early teens. In lieu of spending my teenage years partying, sneaking out, or getting into dangerous ordeals, I dedicated my time to myself and my dogs. I shadowed under trainers, spent countless hours researching, listening to podcasts, and watching videos about training dogs. I would then go and practice with the family dog at home, my first german shepherd…but certainly not my last!

Over those years my thoughts and opinions changed as I learned more and more. During this time It slowly became more and more apparent that dogs were much smarter than I ever knew.

I wanted to have a deeper understanding of how they learn, how their brains work, why certain training methods work the way they do and how to build a relationship that would create a desire to work with me, and an excitement to train! Simply teaching them to perform a behavior and looking no deeper than that was not satisfactory to me. I knew dogs were far smarter than many gave them credit, but at the time I didn’t know how intelligent they truly are.

From there I had taken my first steps in seeking to learn from experts in the industry that are able to teach a deeper understanding of dogs and dog training. I attended Highland Canines School For Dog Trainers for an intensive 6 month program that trained me to work with Service animals, Police dogs, Protection dogs, Detection dogs, Search and Rescue dogs, Behavioral modification, and of course, Pet dogs! Along with the Master Dog Trainer Certification, I graduated with honors, as well as an award in puppy raising, and Search & Rescue. Throughout the course I also participated in their Student Excellence program where I took the opportunity to take on extra training assignments, and work with training non-canine animals.

I have been to many different workshops and seminars on different aspects of dog training, and attend a minimum of two workshops/seminars a year. I know that there will always be something new to learn, you can never know everything. My quest for knowledge will never end, it cannot. For some this may not be great news, yet to me this is amazing. This means I will always continue to improve my skills, become more educated, and have a growing interest in my field as It grows!

For the past year I have been taking a course for professional dog trainers to further their knowledge in ways I never expected. It has brought a far greater understanding of how dogs' brains work, how learning happens, why, and so much more! The changes this has brought to my training are some I'm extremely grateful for as it has allowed me to help pet parents in a more fun, and exciting way while still maintaining a proper relationship with your dog(s)!
